In short
Identify the exact competitor profile and network before adding it to monitoring. Then check profile preparation, post collection and analysis. Older videos may appear quickly, but change indicators require observations over time, not publication dates alone.
Add the profile
- Open Competitors and Track account. Choose the network, enter the handle, then search for the profile.
- Check the name and the returned profile before confirming monitoring. Avoid selecting a similarly named account.
Have the exact handle ready or check the public profile you want to follow. Search identifies that account on the chosen network. If several profiles share a business name, use the handle and returned profile identity rather than the display name alone.
Allow monitoring to prepare
Collection and analysis are asynchronous. Initial setup can prepare up to 100 videos, then process new posts within available limits. A paused budget or inaccessible media can interrupt progress.
Open the account details to check status and actual available videos. An initially empty list does not mean the account publishes nothing.
Expect the account to appear in Competitors first, followed by posts and analyses. These stages do not necessarily finish together. Historical metrics, comparisons and concepts may still be unavailable even when the profile and some videos are visible.
Organize useful initial monitoring
For a fictional mountain-accessory brand, choose an account showing uses genuinely comparable to your product. A high follower count is insufficient: check whether its videos show actions, products and contexts you want to study. Monitoring covers the chosen account, not an entire market.
After confirming, open its details and check the network and handle again. If collection is running, keep that monitored account rather than submitting the same request again. For a persistent blocker, note the message and affected account for support; logging into the competitor’s account is unnecessary.
Manage monitoring
To stop monitoring, use the account removal action. Monitoring is not an OAuth connection to your own network and does not enable publishing to the observed profile.
