The long definition
A product reveal is the moment a video introduces the product or makes its role clear. It might follow a question, emerge from packaging, or appear immediately in use. The important choice is what the viewer knows before and after the reveal.
Delaying the reveal can create curiosity, but it can also waste attention. There is no ideal reveal time for every video. Place it where it advances the demonstration, and give the viewer enough information to recognise the product and its benefit.
Anatomy: Product reveal
Prepare the reveal around a change in what the viewer understands.

- 01SetupShow the situation or question.
- 02AppearanceIntroduce the product in a readable shot.
- 03DetailShow the feature that explains its role.
- 04UseDemonstrate the product answering the setup.
A concrete example
Illustrative example · cable organiser
“This is the small piece keeping the cables in place.”Move from the tidy desk to a close-up of the organiser and its installation.
The reveal explains an initially visible result, then the installation makes the product’s role understandable.
Do
- Keep the product recognisable.
- Connect the reveal to the setup.
- Show the useful detail.
Don't
- Delay the reveal without a payoff.
- Hide the product behind transitions.
- Reveal a feature the product does not have.
How Reacast uses this concept
Mark the reveal shot in your Reacast storyboard and list the product details that must remain visible when adapting the reference.
