The long definition
Creative saturation describes how common a concept, promise, or execution has become across a market. It concerns the supply of similar content, while creative fatigue concerns an audience’s response to repeated exposure. The two can overlap without being the same.
A useful saturation assessment needs a defined market, period, and sample. Seeing several similar videos in a personalised feed does not measure an entire category. Treat limited observations as signals to investigate rather than a precise market-wide score.
Anatomy: Saturation
Define the observation scope and describe what is actually repeated.

- 01ScopeChoose a category, audience, and observation window.
- 02SampleRecord which accounts and videos were reviewed.
- 03SimilarityIdentify shared promises and sequences.
- 04DecisionConsider a distinctive situation or demonstration.
A concrete example
Illustrative scenario · bottle demonstrations
“Several reviewed videos use the same desk-spill opening.”Try a commute use case while keeping the product benefit grounded in evidence.
The observation supports exploring differentiation within the reviewed sample, not declaring the entire market exhausted.
Do
- Define the observation window.
- Record the sample.
- Describe specific similarities.
Don't
- Generalise from a personalised feed.
- Invent a saturation percentage.
- Assume a common idea cannot work.
